Mother of a 3-year-old daughter seeks representation for a custody hearing scheduled for February 2, 2026, at 9 AM. The opposing party is the child’s father. Client filed for custody in July 2025 after Father failed to return the child to Client in Florida, where Client resides, after eight months. An October 2025 temporary order granted the parties shared physical custody. Client now seeks primary physical custody so the child may remain enrolled in her Florida school, with Father having custodial time during the summer, as well as sole legal custody due to the child’s medical needs and the fact that all of the child’s doctors are located in Florida. The child previously suffered lead poisoning caused by conditions in Father’s apartment. Client alleges that Father has a history of violence and leaves the child in the care of the paternal grandmother, who has been reported to DHS for unsafe living conditions and erratic behavior. A volunteer attorney is needed to represent Client at the upcoming hearing.
